Give It Up Chords

(ver. 1)
Pepper
This song is really easy to play and sing,
But it's still one of my favorites.
I know that there isn't an acoustic version by the band.
This is just a great way to play the song.
I have arranged the CORRECT chords,
In the CORRECT progression.
Listen to the song for the exact rhythm of the guitar.
I have tabbed out how many times each chord is played.
I did not tab the up/down-strokes though.
It's a fairly simple ska/reggae strumming pattern.
It shouldn't be too hard to figure out if you work on it.
That's all the info on this tab as of now.
And as always, please rate my tab.

THANKS AND ENJOY. =]

!!!!****{ALL CHORDS ARE RELATIVE TO THE CAPO}****!!!!

BAND: PEPPER
TUNING: STANDARD (eBGDAE/CAPO 1ST FRET)

CHORDS USED:

   G Bm A D Dm Bb C

e[-3--2--0--5--5--6--8---]
B[-3--3--2--7--6--6--8---]
G[-0--4--2--7--7--7--9---]
D[-0--4--2--7--7--8--10--]
A[-2--2--0--5--5--8--10--]
E[-3--2-----------6--8---]

NOTE:
This song can also be played without a capo,
By using a few simple barre chords.
Playing it this way allows for the upbeat rhythm to be played much easier.
Although you can slightly hear your fingers across the strings.
This usually occurs if you are playing an acoustic.
However, I will tab this song as it is played with a capo.
Any notes in parenthesis are optional.
A.K.A. "GHOST NOTES"

EXAMPLE:

    Eb
e[--6--]
B[--8--]
G[--8--]
D[--8--]
A[--6--]
E[-(6)-]

So the Bb note in the parenthesis,
Could be left out of the Eb chord fingering,
If you do not want to play it.

The barre chords are as follows:

Eb Cm Bb Ab Ebm B C#
e[--6---8--6--4---6---7--9--]
B[--8---8--6--4---7---7--9--]
G[--8---8--7--5---8---8--10-]
D[--8---10-8--6---8---9--11-]
A[--6---10-8--6---6---9--11-]
E[-(6)--8--6--4--(6)--7--9--]

(NOTICE THE "GHOST NOTES")

VERSE 1:

NOTE:
For the first two lines of the verse,
The root notes of the chord are strummed once,
(Much like a "5" chord, or power chord).
Aside from the G chord at the end of each phrase.
(Except the second phrase).
The verse should be played like so:

(PART 1) (PART 2)

D Bm A

(PART 3)
    D Bm
Now, I think we've talked about it,
A G
And I think I know what's coming up next,
D Bm A G D
Let's put our minds away and let our hormones do the rest. Does it seem
        Bm A G
Obscene? Does it seem like a bad thing?
D Bm A G
Well if it is, I'm sorry Miss, but you know I'm just nine-teen.
D Bm A G
So don't be afraid if my pants start to leak.
D Bm A G
You know damn well I'm in my sexual peak.
       G Bm A
Well...

NOTE:
The last three chords of the verse(G, Bm, and A),
Are only played once each,
And they are held to ring out,
As shown below:

"...Well..."
   G Bm A
e[----------------]
B[----------------]
D[------4----2----]
G[-0----4----2----]
A[-2----2----0----]
E[-3--------------]

CHORUS:

NOTE:
The upbeat ska rhythm starts here.
Listen to the actual song a few times through.
As you listen, play along until you have it down.

G Bm A
Why don't you have some dirty hot sex with me?
G Bm A
It ain't like I'm askin you to give it up for free.

Oh yeah!
G Bm A
We can start it right now baby get on your knees,
G Bm A
Don't make me beg again girl I just said please.

Yeah!

VERSE 2:

NOTE:
The second verse is played a little bit different than the first.
The chord progression,
(Although it uses the same chords and similar structure).
Is slightly modified and sounds vaguely different than the first verse.

   D Bm A D Bm A G
e[----------------][------------------------------------]
B[----------------][------------------------------------]
G[-7----4----2----][-7----4----2----2-2-2-2-2-2---------]
D[-7----4----2----][-7----4----2----2-2-2-2-2-2-0-0-0-0-]
A[-5----2----0----][-5----2----0----0-0-0-0-0-0-2-2-2-2-]
E[----------------][----------------------------3-3-3-3-]

D Bm A
Now when you look down don't be misled.
D Bm A G
I found my life's purpose and it's getting up stairs and into your bed.
D Bm A
Well there's the phone girl go right on ahead.
D Bm A G
I'm sure you'd rather be with your stupid boyfriend instead!

BRIDGE:

NOTE:
The tempo dramatically reduces here,
And the notes are strummed once,
And left to ring out.
If you are playing an electric guitar,
A smooth chorus or reverb setting here is superb.
If you are playing an acoustic guitar,
Strum the strings closer to the neck,
Rather than the bridge.
This technique will give you a more hollow sound out of the chords.

    Dm Bb C
e[--5----6----8-----]
B[--6----6----8-----]
G[--7----7----9-----]
D[--7----8----10----]
A[--5----8----10----]
E[-(5)---6----8-----]

Dm Bb C
Why you gotta sleep with my dad?

CHORUS:

NOTE:
The upbeat ska-style rhythm starts up again here.

G Bm A
Why don't you have some dirty hot sex with me?
G Bm A
It ain't like I'm askin you to give it up for free.

Oh yeah!
G Bm A
We can start it right now baby get on your knees,
G Bm A
Don't make me beg again girl I just said please.

Yeah!

OUTRO:

NOTE:
The outro is comprised of the same,
Chords and rhythm as the chorus.

G Bm A
Oh yeah...Oh yeah...Oh yeah!
G Bm A
Baby get on your knees! Oh yeah...Oh yeah!
G Bm A
I'm beggin' you darlin' please. Oh yeah...Oh yeah!
G Bm A
Baby get on your knees! Oh yeah...Oh yeah!
G Bm A
I'm beggin' you darlin' please!
         G Bm A
Please...Please...Please.. Please me!

That's all there is to this song.
I hope my tab helped you out.
Please rate, and comment if it did or didn't, and why.
Once again if you have any questions, comments, or requests:
Have a great day.
