The View Tabs

(ver. 2)
Modest Mouse
"The View" - Modest Mouse

Standard tuning.

Intro
[The slides aren't really exact.. I think Brock may knock the A string in with
it sometimes. It's loose, so just whack on it. As obscene as that may sound.]

Main Rhythm (00:06)
[This is a little odd; it needs to be played around with quite a bit. There's
quite a bit of scratching and slide improvisation on the lower strings, and he
always treats the Eb ending a little differently every time. Brock also leaves
out the A note of that same chord most of the time, but plays it sometimes..
like the bend I've shown there at the end. So I just put the note in parenthesis
to show that sometimes it's there and sometimes it ain't. You'll need to feel it
out for yourself. Needless to say, you'll have to listen to this bit to get it
right, it's nigh impossible to tab it all out correctly. It's supposed to be fun.
So.. y'know.. have fun with it.]

Lead Part #1 (00:29)
[Played on keyboard, I think? This is it for guitar.]

Chorus Rhythm (00:53)
[Something strange going on here with a whammy pedal of some sort. Which I don't
have. So you're stuck with the basic chords here, following the bass line. If
someone wants to fix this up real nice, please do so.]

Solo (02:19)
[Lead in with the mini solo. On the very last note, you can either bend a B note
up to the C or use a somewhat smoother intonation. The rhythm guitar behind this
part doesn't come in until the second half, and even then it's spotty and very
sporadic. It's based on the main rhythm, however, so just scratch around with that.]
