I made up the notation because the chord names were long (Em7sus4)
and frequent.  Here's the deal: you start the measure with a down
strum on G or Em7.  Then strum up on the next beat to accent the root
note an octave up, then you add an “A” note and strum up to accent, 
and then add the a “B” and strum up.

F  =3200XX (down strum)   Am7  =0200XX (down strum)
 ^ =3200XX (UP strum)        ^ =0200XX (UP strum)  
 ^D=3202XX (UP strum)        ^D=0202XX (UP strum)
 ^E=32020X (UP strum)        ^E=02020X (UP strum)

You should mess around with the way you strum to fit the music and 
not just strum on the beats.  Selectively play the high and low part 
of the chord, or switch to finger picking.  Notes at the bottom.
