Great Romances Of The 20th Century Tabs

(ver. 3)
Taking Back Sunday

Tabdude: Erik Johnson

Its really important that you listen to the song while looking
at this tab in order to really understand where everything goes.
The tab is laid out in order, from beginning to the end. This tab is
totally accurate for the song aside from small little things the
guitarists might be doing. Ive arranged it for one guitar cause thats how
my band covers it. The little background portion in the intro is played
(#)=Number of times to play the chord

CHords Used

  G# F# F#/A# B Em G#m7
e-------------------------4--
b-------------------------4--
g----------------4--------4--
d-6--4----4------4--2-----4--
a-6--4----x------2--2-----6--
E-4--2----6---------0-----4--

Intro x4
B(hold the bmajor form II barre for the whole intro)
e---------------------------------------------
b--------------4---------------4--------------
g----4-4-----4--4-4---4-4----------4----------
d---4-4-4-4-4-4--4---4-4-4--4-4-4-4-4---------
a--2-----2------------------------------------
E----------0--------2------2-4---2------------

Verse

G#(8)---Em(8)---B(8)---F#(8)

Bridge thingy
G#7 B
e------------------------------------------
b----------------------4-------------------
g-------4----------4-----4------4---4------
d---4-----4----------4-----4------4---4--4-
a-----6-----6-----------------2----------4-
E-4--------------0-----------------------2-

B(1)-F#/A#(1)(quick change from B to this)--G#(8)--Em(8)--B(8)--F#(4)

You play the above a bunch of times and then you do the little B to
F#/A# then go to this below. When marked with *, play chord only twice
with palm muting.

G#*(2)--F#*(2)--Em*(2)--Em*(2) (x2)

Strum these chords

G#(8)--F#(8)--Em(16)(you play this progression with strumming in the beat
of the song a whole bunch of times and then you hit the Em and just let it
fade out then play this little solo, youll have to listen to song for timing,
its an oversimplified version, so feel free to add notes if they sound good
and dont throw off the beat)

e----------------------------
b---------------------5--4---
g--4-6-4--4-3---4-6-4------4-
d-------------4--------------
a----------------------------
E----------------------------

Then after this you do this jaun.
Play these chords sort of quickly.
G#(3)-F#(3)-G#(3)-F#(3)-G#(1)-F#(1)-Em - do this like three or four times
then hit the Em and let it

fade...then go to this next section with palm muting.
pm...................
G#(16)--F#(16)--Em(32)

No palm muting here, same riff basically as before.
G#(3)-F#(3)-G#(3)-F#(3)-G#(1)-F#(1)-Em(1)

(#)=Number of times to play the chord
