Like Knives Chords

(ver. 1)
City And Colour
Chords: Em or Em7: x75000 or x75700
        Em9/D: x54000 or x54050
        Cmaj7 or Cadd9: x32000 or x32030
        Em9/D*: x54030
        C: x32010
        G: 320033

Dallas plays on the record, but I found these chords are good to use when you just want
to play the song in standard tuning. The switch from Em to Em9/D to Cmaj7 is pretty quick so
look out for that. Also, when playing the C, if you lift off your first finger after the
first measure it sounds a bit better.

(Verse 1)

Em Em9/D Cmaj7
Your words are like knives

Em Em9/D Cmaj7
They peel my skin and pierce my soul

Em Cmaj7
Your body will burn tonight

Em Em9/D Cmaj7
Though your heart may still remain cold

(Chorus)

Em9/D* C
And I will blame myself

Em9/D* C
And I will blame myself

Em9/D* C
For holding onto what i hoped would keep you by my side.

Em9/D* C
I will blame myself

(Verse 2)

Em Em9/D Cmaj7
The sheets are stained with

Em Em9/D Cmaj7
Memories of your soft kiss

Em Em9/D Cmaj7
Now this is all I have

Em Em9/D Cmaj7
Paper and pen to remember you with

(Chorus)

Em9/D* C
And I will blame myself

Em9/D* C
And I will blame myself

Em9/D* C
For holding onto what i hoped would keep you by my side.

Em9/D* C
I will blame myself

(Outro)

G C
Can I have you?

G C
Can I have you?

G C
Can I have you?

G C Em9/D*
Can i have you?
