Cenotaph Tabs

(ver. 1)
Bolt Thrower

Cenotaph by Bolt Thrower, off the album Warmaster.

To play this song in tune with the CD you first have to tune your guitar down
to D flat (C#). I have written the transcription for "drop D" tuning as this
tuning still keeps the first five strings fairly tight. Bolt Thrower actually
tune all their strings down, but you need a special whammy bar system to keep
reasonable tension on the strings. I know because I asked them when they came to
Perth.

For anyone who doesn't know how to de-tune in this way, this is how I do it...
    - First tune the whole guitar down half a step (one semitone) to E flat
    - Drop the 6th (low E) string down to D flat by tuning it to the note
played by holding the 5th string at the 5th fret.
    - When you have finished, the following chord should be in tune with a
      low E5 power chord...

       E5
    eb|----
    Bb|----
    Gb|----
    Db|-3--
    Ab|-3--
    Db|-3--

Notation: (n) means that this note is carried over from the last bar.
a . under a note means that it is to be played stoccato.

It's fairly hard to show timing in TAB, but I've tried to space the notes to
give an indication of how long each should be held. eg. 0 0 0 0 means 8th note
downstrokes, 00000000 means 16th note alternate picking. Anyway, enough
theory, heres the song.

p.s Lookout for Suffer the Children by Napalm Death, coming soon.
If you have transcribed some Grindcore songs then put them on the "Net", we
really need some more heavy sh*t, instead of these boring old rock'n'roll songs.
