Come Dancing Chords

(ver. 1)
Kinks
COME DANCING

Note: This version is not exacting, but when it's me, myself and I or
when playing for the family, this is just a fun way to play it.
Here's the primary basic finger pattern pretty much used throughout.

verse:
    G D G
E|-------------------|-------------------|-------------------|-------------------|
B|----3---3---3---3--|----3---3---3---3--|----7---7---7---7--|----3---3---3---3--|
G|----4---4---4---4--|----4---4---4---4--|----7---7---7---7--|----4---4---4---4--|
D|----5---5---5---5--|----5---5---5---5--|----7---7---7---7--|----5---5---5---5--|
A|----------5--------|----------5--------|--5----------------|----------5--------|
E|--3----------------|--3----------------|----------5--------|--3----------------|
        t t t t t t t t

Note: This pattern just repeats itself, just follow the chord changes and don't be
afraid to variate a little for flavor.

verse:
G
They put a parking lot on a piece of land
D G
Where the supermarket used to stand
                                  D
Before that they put up a bowling alley
                                      G
On the site that used to be the local pally
C G
That's where the big bands used to come and play
D G
My sister went there on a Saturday

chorus1:
     C
Come dancin'
                   G
All her boyfriends used to come and call
             D C G
Why not come dancin', it's only natural

verse:
G
Another Saturday, another date
D G
She would be ready but she'd always make him wait
                         D
In the hallway, in anticipation
                                              G
He didn't know the night would end up in frustration.
C G
He'd end up blowing all his wages for the week
D G
All for a cuddle and a peck on the cheek

chorus2:
     C
Come dancin'
                            G
That's how they did it when I was just a kid
                        D C G
And when they said come dancin', my sister always did

bridge:
   Em D C
My sister should have come in at midnight
D Em D C
And my mom would always sit up and wait
D Em D C
It always ended up in a big brawl
D Em D C
When my sister used to get home late

Note: Here I just softly tap-brush against the muffled strings in twos,
      playing the chords.
G
Out of my window I can see them in the moonlight
D G
Two silhouettes saying goodnight by the garden gate

    Em D C
The day they knocked down the pally
D Em D C
My sister stood and cried
D Em D C
The day they knocked down the pally
D Em D C (tacet)
Part of my childhood died, just died.

then: Em D C D x3 (hard strums)

verse:
G
Now I'm grown up and playing in a band
D G
And there's a car park where the pally used to stand
C G
My sister's married and she lives on an estate
D G
Her daughters go out, now it's her turn to wait
C G
She knows they get away with things she never could
D G
But if I asked her I wonder if she would

chorus3:
     C
Come dancin'
                G
Come on sister, have yourself a ball
                        D C G
Don't be afraid to come dancin', it's only natural
     C G
It's only natural

END WITH A QUICK: D G (and maybe add a bit of vibrato to the ending G)
