Celebrity Death Ukulele

(ver. 1)
Yves Klein Blue
One of the best songs on the album, even though it took a month or so to grow on
me. It's a simple strumming pattern so it's easy to play and sing along to,
although it's pretty much guaranteed to bring everyone around you down.

Notes on the chords:
"D, D2" --> play a D and on the second strum drop the high F# to an open E
During the verse, the A is a bar chord on the fifth fret of the low E string.
During the chorus, the chords are all bar chords with the following bass roots:
D --> 10th fret of low E
A --> 7th fret of G
C#m --> 9th fret of low E
F#m --> 9th fret of A

Intro F#m

Verse 1

F#m D, D2
Your baby and wife took a walk on the beach on a Saturday
A C#m
By Monday pictures dressed in bold font
F#m D, D2
The only thing that inspired you was the everyday,
A C#m
And that's the only thing that they didn't want.
F#m D, D2
The green lights your way, who does it illuminate?
A C#m
How many men reside in your face?
F#m D, D2
And which one got everything you wanted?
        A C#m
When all the world's a stage, does everything seem worthless and fake?
F#m D, D2

                          A
'Cause I've seen you live so many lives.

       F#m D, D2
Oh, adopted a guise that put you under these lights,
                    A C#m
what a cruel design, that I saw you more than most of my friends
F#m D, D2 A
Now tears roll down cheeks from eyes of suspended disbelief
           C#m
To watch a special news bulletin
F#m D, D2

                          A
Saying, "I've seen you live so many lives.
     C#m
Oh what's one more?
F#m D, D2

                  A C#m
Why won't you rise from the grave like you done before?"

Chorus

        D A
'Cause they only wanted to see
           C#m F#m
if your eyes shine like in the films of you
        D A
'Cause they only want to believe
            C#m F#m
that they knew you well themselves
                  D A
Oh but of course they don't look like that
            C#m F#m
That took seven hours of make-up and a special lens cap

F#m
Oh...

Verse 2

Confidants' confidence dies, tongues cluck and tears dry
How are you surprised?
That nameless sadness lives for all time
'Cause drinks don't stay cold and smoke leaves ash like a soul
and clouds all the voices of safety
I thought for a moment, yeah, maybe I was alone
Just to feel an ounce of regret
But that didn't occur once to the lunch ladies
They had a cup of tea and a cigarette
They didn't waste any precious time saying kind things
'Cause the whole appeal is to rely on the face of things

Chorus

D A
'Cause they only wanted to see
           C#m F#m
if your eyes shine like in the films of you
        D A
'Cause they only want to believe
            C#m F#m
that they knew you well themselves
                  D A
Oh but of course they don't look like that
            C#m F#m
That took seven hours of make-up and a special lens cap

             D A
On certain days it's hard to remember that
C#m [hold]
Even for you

I hope you rest well

A F#m C#m D
