Please Don’t Ask Me To Smile - You Am I (Rogers/You am I)

The way I played this is with the guitar tuned down two whole semi-tones,
so that the normal open G becomes an open F.

G Gsus4 G Gsus4
When I was in grade six I used to open the door for a girl
        G Gsus4	G/B A* G
and she called me a wimp. Said there just is no need to be so f**king polite
	   Gsus4 G/B A* G
I politely agreed with her, I think she was right
  Am7 G Am7 G
just never entered my mind, That a 12 year old came down to choosing sides

G Gsus4 G Gsus4
You said, That I'd die if I had nothing to do, put a drink in my hand and I'll
G
talk to anything that moves
       Gsus4 G/B A* G
I just refuse to give you what you think will make things right
	Gsus4 G/B A* G
Just to find hate when you've lost the will to fight
    Am7 G
and would it really be in touch with the times
   Am7 G
to put somebody down for choosing sides

	     Csus2 Dsus2
And you said show us them teeth, give us them braces
Csus2 Dsus2 D/C# D/C
Show me that dental work that puts fear in twelve year old faces

G A* G/B Gsus4 Gsus4 G/B A* G

G Gsus4 G Gsus4
And times when it just feels right, hold open the door for a girl
	G Gsus4 G/B A* G
or back down from a fight, there's just no need to be so f**king polite
   Gsus4 G/B A* G
at least it helps us sleep easier at night
Am7 G Am7 G
It just never enters my mind, it ever should come down to choosing sides

	     Csus2 Dsus2
And you said show us them teeth, give us them braces
Csus2 Dsus2 D/C# D/C
Show me that dental work that puts fear in twelve year old faces
