this is sort of my punkier, grungier power chord version of the song- i figured it out
strumming guitar and listening to 'begin to hope' one fateful night. this is how we play
cover at shows- it sounds best with a mostly clean tone because with simple power chords 
don't get the subtleties in the voice of each chord. (palm mute the verse for a sort
spiteful 'no, mom, i won't take out the trash' kind of sound.)

also, this song has a pile of russian in it that translates to (VERY roughly)

"February. Buy ink, cry about it,

Burns in the blackness of the spring."

ah, hell, it's late- i'll throw in an annotation.
i think the specific use of 'february' in the russian passage refers to valentines day,
that the russian part of the song denotes sarcasm- it's kind of a taunt about how you
let events in your life turn you into a mope and you can sort of wallow in your little 
grief- but the rest of the song sort of tells you that you have people who count on you
that for their sake as well as your own, you can't let life get you down.
the 'flood' is likely another one of regina's bible references, and maybe the line
moi le deluge' is a reference to being a spiteful god in your own life and letting your
destroy what you have.

so if there was a thematic statement i could tie to this work it would be 'get the f**k
it,' which might occur to the listener in an almost humorous way.
