Professor Nutbutters House Of Treats Bass

(ver. 1)
Primus
Bassist: Les Claypool
Tuning: BEADGC (6 string standard)

Firstly, I have seen alot of tabs for this song online most of them are pretty average
i've studied them, watched Les play it and have came up with this here: (note i'm not
how many times you have to play everything but i am structuring it into what bit goes where)

Secondly: You need a 6 string bass to play this. I worked this out on my 6 string
There's an extensive use of the B and C strings so they really are essentially. You could
this but it might not sound right.

This is 95% right, all the main parts are here and sound right to me and I've played
to it a good number of times. I've placed times to show were the different parts occur at.

Enjoy.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Intro: This is the only bit I'm not 100% sure about. Can hear muted slapping entering
0:20.

Repeat this a number of times, fading in - listen to the song.

Starts about 0:32

C||---------------------------------------------------------------|
G||---------------------------------------------------------------|
D||---------------------------------------------------------------|
A||---------------------------------------------------------------|
E||-0h12-0h12-0h12-0h12-0h12-0h12--0h10-0h10-0h10-0h10-0h10-0h10--|
B||---------------------------------------------------------------|

Then moves onto these two parts here:

C||---------------------------------------------------|
G||------------------------15-------------------------|
D||------------------------14-------------------------|
A||---------------------------------------------------|
E||-0h12-0h12-0h12-0h12-12----0h12-0h12-0h12-0h12-12--|
B||---------------------------------------------------|

Play above a number of times then play below which then moves back to above.

C||--------------------------------|
G||--------------------------------|
D||--------------------------------|
A||--------------------------------|
E||-0h10-0h10-0h10-0h10-0h10-0h10--|
B||--------------------------------|

Pre-Verse - this is played fast - 1:23, 2:04, 2:39, 3:06, 4:35

C||------------17--------------17---------------17----|
G||---------------16--------------16---------------16-|
D||--0h15-x-x---------0h15-x-x--------0h15-x-x--------|
A||---------------------------------------------------|
E||---------------------------------------------------|
B||---------------------------------------------------|

Verse - the bit prior to the words and the "come on kiddies gather round"

Starts: 1:37, 3:20, 4:46
C||-------------------------------------------------------------------|
G||-------------------------------------------------------------------|
D||-------------------------------------------------------------------|
A||-------------------------------------------------------------------|
E||-------------------------------------------------------------------|
B||-4-4-3-3-4-4-4-4--4-4-3-3-4-5-5-5--4-4-3-3-4-4-4-4-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-|

Then its back to the pre-verse but there is an extra bit.
As well as playing what is already noted Les plays the following once:

2:04

C||------------17--------------19----|
G||---------------16--------------18-|
D||--0h15-x-x---------0h17-x-x-------|
A||----------------------------------|
E||----------------------------------|
B||----------------------------------|

Bridge: I'm not sure if what is playing is the bass guitar or not, if it i don't have a
what is playing. There is however definitely fast muted slapping.

Slap it the way you would the muted slapping in the verses of My name is mud or in
head. I would do the hammering on of the muted strings with index finger on C# on B string
middle and ring fingers on D (2nd and 3rd fret). Then slap the muted C# note and
onto D. That's the best explanation i can give without showing in person.

2:18, 4:15

C||-------------------------------------------------------------------|
G||-------------------------------------------------------------------|
D||-------------------------------------------------------------------|
A||-------------------------------------------------------------------|
E||-------------------------------------------------------------------|
B||-xhxhxhxhxhxhxhxhxhxhx---/----14-14-14-14-14-14-14-14-14-----------|

Then "old nutbutters house of treats"...

C||----------------------------------------------------|
G||----------------------------------------------------|
D||----------------------------------------------------|
A||----------------------------------------------------|
E||----------------------------------------------------|
B||-xhxhxhxhxhxhxhxhxhxhx--2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-----------|

Then muted bit above again

Then its back to the pre-verse.

Then:

"Fear the worm bit"

2:46

C||-----------------------------------------|
G||-----------------------------------------|
D||-----------------------------------------|
A||-----------------------------------------|
E||-----------------------------------------|
B||-5-5-5-5-5-5-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-|

Then yet again back to pre-verse bit

Then it the verse part again but not in the order shown just mix it about and it sounds fine.

Bridge 2: i didn't write this so this belongs to Jason Langel and Edo but it sounds right.

3:48

G||-----------------------------------------|
D||-----------------------------------------|
A||-7-5---------------7-----5-----5-----5-5-|
E||-------7---------7----3-----3-----3------|
B||---------5--555--------------------------|

C||-------------------------------------------|
G||-------------------------------------------|
D||-------------------------------------------|
A||-777-5-----------7---5-----5-5\7-----5---5-|
E||---------------7---3---3----------3--------|
B||-------5--5-5------------------------------|

C||----------------------------------------------------|
G||----------------------------------------------------|
D||------------------------------------444-------------|
A||-777-5----------7---5-5-5--777--555--------7--------|
E||--------------7---3-----------------------------3/--|
B||-------5-5-5----------------------------------------|

C||--------------------------------------|
G||--------------------------------------|
D||--------------------------------------|
A||----7-------------7---5---5-----------|
E||------7---------7---3---3-----3-5-----|
B||-5-------5--5-5--------------------5/-|

THEN
theres another muted bit, i've just realised that there may be tapping in the bridge but
part is just muted strings entirely. See bridge.

Then yet again pre-verse

Verse again.

Then its the outro.

Outro is just this again:

5:00

C||-----------------------------------------|
G||-----------------------------------------|
D||-----------------------------------------|
A||-----------------------------------------|
E||-----------------------------------------|
B||-5-5-5-5-5-5-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-|

Some variations in there but that is it.

6:15 the bass stops and starts again at 6:30 with the outro part again.
Also Lers solo from 6:43 to 6:57 is b**ching.

Okay thats the end of the song.
