Our Lady Peace "Denied" Performance Notes:
This song is pretty basic. The opening lick is a somewhat simple arpeggiated figure that is
a bit tough on the timing but, with a little listening to the album, it should be playable
in no time at all. I'm not sure if the timing is as accurate as it could be. I don't
compose music for orchestras but, I do know a bit about timing, etc. I'm just hoping that
it's right. When playing Riff: 2, try and play it as "fluidly" as possible. If you listen
to Mike's playing on the album, he plays it a great deal of finesse. So keep that in mind
performing that particular riff. Riffs 3, 6A and 6B are all pretty much similar but, with
a slight variation in each. The guitar solo is a bit tough. Mike doesn't play a guitar
a whammy bar to my knowledge (at least not live) so get your fingers warmed up for some
serious vibrato! Riff: 4B has major vibrato in it. I must give credit to Mark Wiebe
version to OLGA as I was in the middle of mine. I used his solo for a bit of inspiration
and borrowed a couple of notes from it for my transcription. The outro solo is a bit buried
in the mix. Hopefully, someday I can figure that out and I'll be able to post it. The last
lick in the song is basically in free time and it's a distorted and contorted version of the
