O.A.R.- Of A Revolution - "Short a Try"

By Matt Sluzinski

Comments welcome: ozc1500 AT aol DOT com. Enjoy!

This is an song that is officially unreleased, but on the Any Time Now
live CD. It's on Disc 1, after "Delicate Few" on track 9. Listen to it
to get the strumming pattern down.

Chords used:

	A C#m	Bm	D	A

e|------5-------4--------2------2-----------|
B|------5-------5--------3------3-------2---|
G|------6-------6--------4------2-------2---|
D|------7-------6--------4--------------2---|
A|------7-------4---------------------------|
E|------5-------4---------------x-----------|

Notes:

- Use barre A for the verses, open A for the chorus.
- For the last D in the chorus ("I'm locked up..."), strum it once and let it ring.
- Change back to barre chords beginning with the A immediately after the chorus (on "try").
- For verse 3, use open chords, except the last A/C#m/Bm sequence.
- Again, listen to the song to hear how Marc plays it.

VERSE 1:

Intro (play twice): A C#m Bm (let last Bm ring before going into first verse)

     A C#m Bm
I'm picking up these broken pieces again
     A C#m Bm
I'm feeling like I'm lost and all I do is find you there
      A C#m
We've been here before
Bm A C#m Bm
I'm never coming back again, not again
A C#m Bm
Tomorrow is too soon for you my dear
  A C#m Bm
I pushed you oh so far away when all I do is want you near
          A C#m
Well I've been here before
Bm A C#m Bm
Not coming back again
Bm
And I can't sleep

CHORUS:

         D A
Because pretenders never sleep with a smile
      D A
It's hard enough to wake up after awhile
     D A
And even though I say I'm feeling fine
      D A C#m Bm
I'm locked up, loaded down, short a try

VERSE 2:

        A C#m Bm
Have I told you lately that I love you
        A C#m Bm
Have I told you that I hold...nothing there above you
       A C#m
We've been around here before
       Bm A C#m
We're never coming back again, not again
 Bm A
I love the way you walk
    C#m Bm
The way that you talk
             A
The way you live
       C#m Bm A
The way that you give me everything you promised you would
      C#m Bm
If I could, I'd be here
      A C#m Bm
I can't
Bm
Well I can't sleep

CHORUS:

         D A
Because pretenders never sleep with a smile
      D A
It's hard enough to wake up after awhile
     D A
And even though I say I'm feeling fine
      D A
I'm locked up, loaded down, short a try

VERSE 3:

   D A
I wish to God that I been there for you my dear
        D A
There's so much pushing me all around, I'd love to hold you near
       D
And I don't expect you to stay
          A
And I'm never gonna ask you why
              D A
Because I'm locked up, loaded down, short a try
      D
I'm locked up, loaded down
                 A C#m Bm
And I'm short a try
