The Narrows

Let (D) me (G) tell (D) you,
About the place where I used to (A) live
A (D) plot of timber (G) ground, sky so (D) blue
With a creek out back and (A) wildlife, (D) too

I had a spot on the creek (G) I called the (D) Narrows
You could step across the rocks and rushing (A) water
Build (D) a small fire, watch (G) the hawks and (D) sparrows
And at sun-down (A) I would loosen the (D) halter

I would mostly (G) watch and (D) dream
Write a song or a poem or (A) two
Peaceful (D) feelings to (G) me it would (D) seem
And walk back to the (A) cabin in the evening (D) dew

The next day, I would (G) go to the narrows (D) again,
Always see things that I had missed (A) before
Hear (D) natures voices, and (G) trees creakin in the (D) wind
Back to the (A) cabin to rest, close the heavy (D) door

Those were the times (G) I took for (D) granted
Not aware of how fortunate that I (A) was
Now (D) the old cabin (G) roof is so (D) slanted
Watched over by (A) two lovely mourning (D) doves

The Narrows, (G) oh how I miss (D) you.........(indeed)....fade.
