Sky Blue And Black Ukulele

(ver. 1)
Jackson Browne
This is based on the version from Solo Acoustic Volume 2.

As Jackson plays it on the piano it's not exact but I think it works as a good
base for you to then use your ear to hear when a base note or something needs to be emphasised.

Intro: A# Gm D# E#

A#
In the calling out to one another
       Gm
All the lovers up and down the strand
D#
In the sound of the waves and the cries
       E#
Of the seagulls circling the sand

A#
In the fragments of the songs
                 Gm
Carried down the wind from some radio
D#
In the murmuring of the city in the distance
E#
Ominous and low

A# Gm
I hear the sound of a world where we played
        D# E#
And the far too simple beauty of the promises we made

Gm D#
If you ever need holding
A# E#
Call my name, I'll be there

Gm D#
If you ever need holding
       A# E#
And no holding back, I'll see you through

A# Gm
Sky blue and black
D# E#
//music w/o lyrics//

Repeat intro

A#
Where the touch of the lover ends
        Gm
And the soul of the friend begins
          D#
There's a need to be separate and a need to be one
      E#
And a struggle neither wins

A#
Where you gave me the world I was in
      Gm
And a place I could make a stand
              D#
I could never see how you doubted me
         E#
When I'd let go of your hand
A# Gm
Yeah, and I was much younger then
      D#
And I must have thought that I would know
   E#
If things were going to end
Gm D#
And the heavens were rolling
A# E#
Like a wheel on a track
Gm D#
And our sky was unfolding
A# E#
 And it'll never fold back

A# Gm
Sky blue and black
D# E#
//music w/o lyrics//

Repeat intro

         Gm A# D# E#
I'd have fought the world for you
          Gm A# D# E#
If I thought that you wanted me to
       Gm A# D# E#
Or put aside what was true or untrue
       A# E#
If I'd known that's what you needed, what you needed me to do me to do

A# Gm
But the moment has passed by me now
        D#
To have put away my pride
              E#
And just come through for you somehow

Gm D#
If you ever need holding
A# E#
Call my name, I'll be there
Gm D#
If you ever need holding
       A# E#
And no holding back, I'll see you through

A#
You're the colour of the sky
                  Gm
Reflected in each store-front window pane
D#
You're the whispering and the sighing
      E#
Of my tires in the rain
A# Gm
You're the hidden cost and the thing that's lost in everything I do
D# E# A#
Yeah and I'll never stop looking for you

Gm
//music w/o lyrics//

D#
In the sunlight and the shadows
E#
And the faces on the avenue

A# Gm D#
	That's the way love is
E#
That's the way love is

A# Gm D#
	That's the way love is
E# A#
Sky blue and black
